The establishment of a security network would reduce crimes especially kidnapping in the society with the support of the traditional council at the grassroots.
This was the submission of the chairman of Ikere local government area of Ekiti state, Southwest, Nigeria, Otunba Femi Ayodele when he received in audience the management of the State’s Security Network, Amotekun, while on advocacy and sensitization visit to his office.
He assured the leadership of the security outfit that his administration will strengthen security to protect lives and properties in his domain to justify the efforts of the state governor, Dr Kayode Fayemi.
The council boss said that people of proven integrity would be recommended for recruitment into the corps.
Commandant of the outfit in the state, Brigadier General Joe Komolafe (rtd) remarked that the corps is home grown security network put in place to reduce crimes.
He called on the Chairman and traditional council in Ikere to only recommend people of proven integrity for employment in the corps.
In another development, the Chairman of the council, Otunba Ayodele has advised students of Ikere origin in higher institutions across Nigeria to be of good character.
He said this while receiving the leadership of National Association of Ikere Students (NAIS) who paid him a courtesy visit in his office, noting that education without morality is nothing in the present day Nigeria, while also stressing need to be dedicated and committed to their studies and shun any act that may distract them in their quest to achieve their goals in their various institutions.
The Council boss told the students that plans are in place by his administration to reward outstanding students of Ikere origin in various institutions.
The president of the National Association of Ikere students, Comrade Aladejebi Ayomikun thanked the chairman for the warm reception.
He therefore urged the Chairman to assist the association to complete Secretariat project of the association under construction and purchase a bus for them to aid mobility of the executives .
