OrderPaperToday –  The National Assembly on Tuesday resumed from its annual recess of over two months but with measures put in place to prevent the spread of the COVID-19 disease.

The resumption was earlier scheduled two weeks ago but was postponed to install more facilities in preparation for the lawmakers to resume.

Upon entering the building from the Senate wing, OrderPaperNG noticed the installation of disinfection booth.

Persons without facemasks were turned back by the sergeants-at-arms.

It was also observed that the booths were placed at the entrances that leads to both chambers as well as the House of Representatives.

Recall that during the break in July, Senator Bayo Osinowo (APC, Lagos East) died from complications of Covid-19.

The following month in August, former Senator Buruji Kashamu who represented Ogun East senatorial district in the 8th assembly equally died because of the virus.

However, it was discovered that earlier restrictions on the influx of people into the complex has reduced.

Before embarking on recess, the National Assembly management introduced Covid-19 pass and distributed to selected persons to comply with the Provisions of the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC).

But upon resumption, only the identity card of the National Assembly was requested for people to gain entrance into the complex.

Meanwhile, OrderPaperNG observed that the red chamber did not install electronic voting devices for their proceedings in the chamber as done in the green chamber before resumption.
