About 100 people have been arrested by the COVID-19 Security Taskforce and the Traffic Management Agency for violating the directive on the proper use of facemasks.
The violators were arrested in Ado-Ekiti, the state capital include motorists and motorcyclists as well as other residents.
Some of the violators who claimed ignorance of the directive that they were not aware of the enforcement on the compulsory use of facemask, begged for grace.
The special Adviser to the Governor on Security Matters, Retired Brigadier General Ebenezer Ogundana in an interview with EKITI STANDARD explained that the step was aimed at ensuring that Ekiti residents adhere to the COVID-19 guidelines in order to prevent the spread of the virus.
The Director General Office of Transformation and Strategies, Prof. Bolaji Aluko said the wellbeing of residents of Ekiti was most paramount to the government and urged the public to take responsibility for their lives by adhering to the measures.
