Ekiti State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has joined the teeming supporters of His Excellency, Godwin Obaseki, the Governor-elect of Edo State, to celebrate his victory at the polls.
The State Working Committee under the leadership of Hon. Kehinde Odebunmi expresses the joy of Ekiti PDP and members for the outstanding victory.
In a statement made available to EKITI STANDARD by its Publicity Secretary, Mr Sanya Adesua, the PDP commended the Edo State voters, in particular, the PDP members for fighting doggedly against the rigging of the election, there by disgracing God fatherism in the politics of the State.
They said, “This is a timely warning to those who still acting like God in our democracy to have a rethink and respect the power of the people.”
The party encourages all its members to take a cue from the Spartan ruggedness, determination and sincerity of Godwin Obaseki, Edo State PDP members, including Edo State people, across the political divide, for not allowing the APC money bags to offer the state for sale.
“Obaseki neither compromised the victory of the party nor was he involved in underhand tricks against the party. They were transparent and sincere to the party. And here is the reward today,” they maintained.
Party also commended the courageous governor of Rivers State, Eyonson Wike, described him as “war commanders” and governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State, Okowa of Delta state and other leaders who didn’t blink their eyelids, in ensuing that PDP retains Edo State in the genuine mainstream of Nigerian politics.
“Finally, as we continue to celebrate the victory of Godwin Obaseki, we must be on guard that it is not yet uhuru, until PDP removes all the APC anti-people rickety structures, from the North to the South. That is the only hope of restoration for the Nigerian people. The next victory being Ondo state governorship election of Eyitayo Jegede, SAN on October 10, 2020,” the party stated.
