The massive agitation and mobilization against officers of the Special Anti Robbery Squad has snowball into Ekiti State as youths took to the street to protest against the squad.

The youths who came from different parts of the state converged in Ado-Ekiti, the state capital where they were chanted various songs to show their grievances against the incessant alleged harassment and intimidation by men of the squad.
The youths in their undereds stormed the palace of the Ewi of Ado Ekiti, HRM Oba (Dr) Rufus Adeyemo Adejugbe and barricaded the road to show their grievances.

The protesters alleged the police officers of numerous unprofessional conducts such as bribery, molestation, lack of respect for human rights among others.

According to them, they alleged that officers often move around with POS to extort them, adding that sometimes they follow them to their houses to carry their valuables.

They wonder when looking good and rich as a young man had become a crime, calling on government to fish out all the officers and prosecute them.

Speaking in a telephone conversation when contacted by EKITI STANDARD, the Ekiti State Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Sunday Abutu confirmed that the youths protested, but said the police had met with some of their leaders and they have agreed to suspend the protest.
