Nasarawa State House of Assembly says it would continue to enact laws that would have direct bearings on the lives of the youths and bring speedy development to the state.
Speaker,lbrahim Balarabe Abdullahi stated this while addressing participants of PEACEWALK organised by ActionAid Nigeria in partnership with Global Peace Development in commemoration of 2020 Global Peace Day in Lafia.
The PeaceWalk which was organised by ActionAid Nigeria in partbership with Global Peace Development and Beacon Youth lnitiative begun from the Total Filling Station Round About and ended at the Nasarawa State House of Assembly saw youths carrying placards with different inscriptions such as Let Love Win,Peace -Progress,Rebuild Not Destroyed,Say Yes to Peace and Peace Begins with a Smile.
Speaker Nasarawa State House of Assembly, Ibrahim Balarabe Abdullahi who appreciated the resilience of Youths in championing the cause of peaceful coexistence in the state,assured them of speedy passage of Bills that would have direct impact on their lives.
Represented by his Deputy,Nehemiah Tsense Dandaura,the Speaker said the Assembly would continue to work in synergy with youths for the growth and overall development of the state and the country in general.
Earlier,the Country Director of ActionAid Nigeria, Mrs Ene Obi, described the youths as the engine force of any nation,noting that ActionAid Nigeria would push further for a Bill that will break the barrier of marginalization that the youths have suffered over the years.
Represented by the Resilience Programme Coordinator,Mr Anicetus Atakpu,the Director called for the speedy passage of Nasarawa Youth Development Commission and Violence Against Persons Prohibition Bills that have passed through second reading at the floor of the House.
The Executive Director,Global Peace Development,Mr Esike Ebruke appealed to the State Assembly to ensure that the Nasarawa Youth Development Commission Bill is given the needed attention .
The 2020 Global Peace Day has its theme TOGETHER FOR PEACE.
