The Joint Action Committee of Unions (JAC) and Congregation of the Federal University, Gusau have dissociated themselves from a petition written against the university’s Vice Chancellor, Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Administration and Internal Council Members representing the Senate of the University.

JAC comprises of Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU), Non-Academic Staff Union of Universities (NASU) and National Association of Academic Technologists (NAAT).

Contained in a statement by the Public Relation Officer of the university, Malam Umar Usman, it said that the chairmen of the four unions have, in a communique issued after their emergency meeting on September 17 this year, stood on the position.

The unions expressed dismay over the way and manner some individuals are so determined to bring the lasting peace being enjoyed in the young university to an end.

“We and our members have nothing to do with the petition and we are very well satisfied with the way the VC and the management of the university are steering its affairs.

“Those who write the petitions are not members of any of the unions in the university,” the unions said in the communique.

The congregation finally commended the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Magaji Garba Azare for his steadfastness in running the affairs of the institution and for stabilizing it despite efforts being made by some individuals to cause havoc in it.
