The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ondo State said it has uncovered plan by political parties to employ crude means to destroy the image of the party, ahead of the gubernatorial election.
The party said the unholy alliance is informed by the fact that the parties perceived APC a common enemy because they are jittery over the rising profile of the ruling APC, on account of performance.
To achieve this, it was further gathered, that the parties were to lay at the doorstep of the ruling party all forms of violence and act of thuggery that would be carried out by their sponsored agents.
The party in a statement signed by its Publicity Secretary, Alex Kalejaiye called on security agencies to be vigilant, and ensure that perpetrators of any form of destructive acts, and violations of positive conducts are handled with all seriousness.
The statement reads: “As a responsible and responsive political organisation, the APC appreciates, and committed to peaceful campaigns and rancour-free gubernatorial election. The party abhors anything that could inflict pains on the good people of the state.
”The APC encourages other parties to tow the path of peace, and caution their members to discard untoward attitude of hooliganism and recklessness in their operations.
“Political leaders will do well to avoid making inflammatory statements that are capable of spurring the followers in unjustifiable and uncivilised actions.
“The best way to win over the electorate is to sell programmes of various parties, convince them of ability to deliver on campaign promises, and appeal for their understanding and support.
“The APC crave genuine development of the State, through massive infrastructure boosting, and industrialisation. The uncommon intervention in Agriculture sector would be sustained.”
Ekiti APC suspends Ojudu, 10 others
From Victor Akinkuolie, Ado-Ekiti
The Ekiti State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) yesterday suspended the Special Adviser on Political Matters to the President, Senator Babafemi Ojudu and 10 other top members of the party.
They were suspended indefinitely over their alleged failure to withdraw the case they instituted against the party as directed by the National Executive Council of the party.
The NEC had in its meeting of June 25, 2020 and attended by President Muhammadu Buhari, Governors and stalwarts directed that all cases pending in courts be withdrawn for resolution of all internal crises in the party.
The party’s State Publicity Secretary, Ade Ajayi, who announced their suspension in Ado-Ekiti, said the disciplinary action was taken against Ojudu and others for defying the highest organ of the party.
The others include: Mr Ayo Ajibade, Oyetunde Ojo, Femi Adeleye, Bunmi Ogunleye, Akin Akomolafe, Bamigboye Adegoroye, Wole Oluyede, Olusoga Owoeye, Dele Afolabi, and Toyin Oluwasola.
The statement read: “The State Executive Council of the Ekiti State chapter of APC has approved indefinite suspension of the following members with immediate effect from 23rd September, 2020.
“The suspension is based on the re recommendation of the investigative/disciplinary committee inaugurated by SEC to investigate the disobedience of certain members to the directive of NEC of 25th June, 2020, which directed members of the party not to institute any court action and to withdraw existing cases in courts.
“The decision of SEC has been communicated to the Caretaker/extra ordinary convention planning committee of the party”.
Ojudu and his allies, who were opposed to Governor Kayode Fayemi, had instituted a case against the constitution of the State Working Committee chaired by Paul Omotoso.
They alleged that the names of those occupying party positions from the ward to the State level were not duly constituted through a legal and recognisable congress in the state.
Ojudu and others in a statement entitled: ‘Before our impending expulsion from APC’, by the group’s spokesperson, Prince Bamgboye Adegoroye, on Wednesday, said the party would crumble in Ekiti, if they are expelled as being allegedly hatched by Fayemi.
The Special Adviser described the suspension as illegal, adding that only the ward of his party can suspend him
