OrderPaperToday – Justice Mohammad Garba been nominated for appointment as Justice of the Supreme Court from the Court of Appeal.
His nomination alongside 7 others was contained in a letter read by President of the Senate, Ahmad Lawan on Tuesday at plenary.
Justice Garba was the Chairman of the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal (PEPT).
Recall that the tribunal dismissed the 2019 election petition by Atiku Abubakar, the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
The nomination is in pursuant to 231(2) of the 1999 constitution as amended and upon the advise of the National Judicial Council (NJC) according to the rank of seniority at the court of appeal.
The full list of nominees are: Hon Justices M. Lawal Garba (North West), Helen M. Ogunwunmiju (South West), Addu Aboki (North West), I. M.M. Saulawa (North West), Adamu Jauro (North East) , Samuel C. Oseji (South South), Tijjani Abubakar (North East) and Emmanuel Agim (South South).
