Senate resumes from annual recess into closed door – ORDER PAPER

OrderPaperToday – The Senate on Tuesday resumed plenary after over two months annual recess.

It however got into an executive session, closing the gallery to the public.

The chamber proceeded on its break 24th of July.

The closed session commenced 10:41am immediately after the Senate President, Ahmad Lawan, said the prayers and approved the votes and proceedings.

There are several important issues lined up for consideration by the red chamber.

Top on the list is the Petroleum Industry Bill (PIB) which Lawan informed that a letter from President Muhammadu Buhari to that effect will read on the floor of the chamber today.

Listed as items to be considered on the Order Paper is the report of the committee on Finance of the 2021-2023 Medium Term Expenditure Framework and Fiscal Strategy Paper.

Also, the chamber will be expecting the 2021 budget from President Buhari.

As at the time of filing the report, the closed door session is ongoing.
